Dodo has a few tricks up her sleeve to keep the grand babes busy in the afternoons just before nap time to keep things calm and entertaining for all parties present. I kind of hoard craft supplies from random things like packing materials, empty paper towel rolls, leftover material from sewing projects and so on. My husband, Pops, as the grands call him, is not amused but I am! I found some great cardboard squares, old felt and leftover fake flowers I was saving for no good reason but this little project. I poked some holes and cut out what I thought looked like the shape of a vase, grabbed some glue and an eager and idle grandchild and we were ready to amuse Dodo with a new "Dodo Craft". We glued the vase in place and after I punched some holes into the cardboard we made a very pretty flower arrangement. We then took it all the flowers out one by one and started all over again. Then clever Dodo pretended to be a customer ordering a nice bouquet for a friend and the process started all over again. This customer only wanted pink and white flowers so that was a little curve ball thrown in for the shop owner. Lots to think about and of course the flower positioning had to be just right. So I can gladly report this flower play kept one 3 year old grand busy for about 20 plus minutes. And the 14 month old grand stuffed and then dumped the flowers that were not in use in a plastic tub over and over for about 10 minutes. Not too shabby if I say so myself! Later the flowers were spread out around the train tracks so the Choo Choo train could enjoy along their journey. Lots happening on this summer afternoon at Dodo's house. Send me your crafts with the grands @ LivandLou@yahoo.com. I would love to share with others and also need some fresh activities for these perky and busy grands.

I LOVE these little hands.

My son-in-law was confused as to what MY blue vase was and when he saw the cardboard cut out without the flowers present thought it represented a pair of underwear and possibly I was attempting a potty training lesson. Not cool but ok I guess I could see that, maybe?
